The birth certificate matches the census records, and is more likely to be correct. The death certificate identifies her parents as A. Delong and Katherine Wheelock.

She is enumerated in the 1850 U.S. census as Mary G. Delong, living in Copley, Summit Co, OH, age 8, in the household of A. P. and Catherine Delong.

She is enumerated in the 1860 U.S. census as Mary Delong, age 18, born Ohio, living in the household of her uncle, Elbridge Wheelock, in Perry, Allen Co, IN.

On 21 Dec 1861 Mary G. Delong married William S. Hunter in Allen Co, IN.¹

She is enumerated in the 1870 census as Geraldine Hunter, 25, b. IN [sic], keeping house, with Sidney Hunter, 28, b. IN, farmer, and Gazelia Hunter, 5, b. IN.

In 1880 she was living in Huntertown, Allen Co, IN, listed as Mary G. Hunter, 38, wife of William S. Hunter, 40, Zela J Hunter, daughter, 15, Byre Hunter, daughter, 5, along with many other boarders, one of whom was Kent Wheelock, her cousin, age 23, boarder, physician.

On 6 April 1883 Geraldine Hunter filed for divorce against her husband, William Sidney Hunter "the well known stock dealer and one of the Hunters of Huntertown."²

Her husband, Sidney Hunter, died in 1898, and is buried in Huntertown Cemetery.³

On 1 June 1899 she married Samuel Beard in Dekalb Co, IN. The marriage record lists her place of residence as Huntertown, and her maiden name as "Geraldine Lane or Delonda," but it is actually Delong.⁴

In 1900, Geraldine Beard, wife of Samuel Beard, was living in Swan Township, Noble Co., IN, born Apr 1842, OH. Geraldine had two children, both living. Samuel was head of household, born Oct 1828 in OH, farmer. No others were listed in the household.

Samuel Beard died in 1905, and is buried in the Swan Cemetery, Swan, Noble Co., IN. His death certificate identifies his birth date as 20? Oct 1828, in OH, father as John Beard, (mother indecipherable), and his spouse as Sarah [sic] Beard. This must be a mistake, given that Geraldine and Samuel were together in the 1900 census, with Samuel's birth date matching that on his death certificate. Either the informant (Mary Preston, probably his daughter) got his wifes name wrong, or they divorced and Samuel remarried (seems unlikely).⁵

Mary Geraldine Beard died in Perry, Allen Co, IN, on 27 May 1906, at the age of 64 years, 1 month, and 16 days. Per death certificate she was a widow, born Ohio, daughter of A. Delong and Katherine Wheelock.⁶

She is buried in Huntertown Cemetery New, Huntertown, Allen Co, IN.
